45 Minutes Before I Die is a haunting solo performance that explores the mysterious space between wakefulness and oblivion—where sleep becomes a rehearsal for death, and the mind takes over in unpredictable ways.

Each night, the protagonist experiences a 45-minute descent into an unconscious state, where control slips away and the brain begins to replay memories, emotions, and unspoken thoughts. This mirrors the scientific theory that, before death, the brain activates a flood of vivid memories in one final surge of activity.

Set in a solitary bedroom, the stage becomes a dreamscape where time bends, voices from the past return, and reality unravels. Through raw physical movement, poetic text, and minimalist design, the performance draws the audience into a surreal psychological journey.

45 Minutes Before I Die is not about dying—it is about what we suppress, what resurfaces in silence, and what we confront when we are finally alone with ourselves. It’s about the moments that define us, the ones we can’t forget, and the voices we can’t silence.

This piece invites the audience to witness what might emerge in the quietest, most vulnerable moments—when the world fades, and only the mind remains awake.

With over 100 offerings from rebellious circus, delicious dance, fearless theatre and activist art to workshops, parties, and more Cannonball pushes the boundaries of live performance at four different venues this Fringe. Come as you are and stay past bedtime at cannonballfestival.org.
