This is a simple love story, told from the vantage point of a 76 year-old gay man who is given the chance to look back, to learn, and to move forward.
Fred and Chris have been a couple for almost 25 years, and married for five of those, when Chris suffers a debilitating stroke at the age of 59. Suddenly dropped into the world of ER's and hospitals and rehabs and long term care, not to mention Medicaid and government red tape, Fred (73 at the time) becomes Chris's advocate and caretaker. As the years go on and Chris's condition changes, Fred begins to see how much love there is between them and how strong it makes them.
"A Home at the End of My Life" is also about the survival of a senior gay man - not a romantic teen or a hot, 30-something tyro - who has lived through the oppression of gays in the 60's, the explosion of the gay movement in the 70's, the AIDS crisis in the 80's, in addition to over 40 years of sobriety.
Told simply to a small audience in an intimate setting, something in this story is bound to resonate with you.
