Connecting and establishing trust with others is essential to our work of dismantling oppressive systems and building empowerment and sustenance in community. This all-levels workshop, taught by TransAcro- a radical circus collective that combats the cisheteropatriarchy through circus- will offer foundational group acrobatics as a method of developing our felt sense of safety and embodied creativity, as well as a concrete tool that can be used for political, social, and collective action. Join us in practicing new ways of moving together- no experience or partner necessary, all are welcome to observe or participate to their comfort!
With over 100 offerings – from rebellious circus, delicious dance, fearless theatre and activist art to workshops, parties, and more – Cannonball pushes the boundaries of live performance at four different venues this Fringe. Come as you are and stay past bedtime. Blaze your own trail at cannonballfestival.org.

Even within our oppressive political climate, trans acrobats claim space in circus communities to build community, play together, skillshare, and reclaim ownership over our bodies.
The rights and self-determination of trans and nonbinary people are being threatened with unprecedented anti-trans legislation and the increase of violent hate crime across the United States, and globally. Trans athletes and artists have become a primary target of trans-antagonistic discrimination and cultural de-humanization.
The circus industry is no exception; transgender and gender-expansive acrobats face significant barriers to accessing training spaces that are safe, inclusive, and supportive of our needs. Cisgender acrobats are on a long road of uprooting the their own transphobia that has been indoctrinated into all of us.
Trans Acro combats the cisheteropatriarchy utilizing circus via events, education, and the promotion of gender-expansive artists. All proceeds from our merchandise goes towards our organizing of the first ever all-trans acrobatic residency in October 2024, and a larger-scale Trans Acro retreat in 2025.
