TBD proudly presents CALVIN BARROWS
Written by Amir-Gabriel Gad
Directed by Monti Cerabino
After CALVIN is knocked into a coma by an ambulance, his friends host a one-month anniversary party...because things can always be worse! With the discovery of his magic eight ball, disaster is bound to strike... and with Calvin’s mother bound to call at some point, it’s almost destined. This coma party is a mad mish-mash living room comedy about memory, secrets, and joy.
CALVIN BARROWS is a new, one-act dark comedy that will be presented at SKINNERS STUDIO in the PLAYS & PLAYERS THEATER in Philadelphia, PA from SEPTEMBER 19-29, 2024. Tickets are "pay what you can" with a suggested $20 price.

THEATER BY DEVELOPMENT was founded by Monti Cerabino and Andrew Miqueli. Monti and Andrew met in their undergrad theater program where they consistently lent hands in creating new work. The first piece this director-writer duo collaborated on was a satirical dark comedy based on the Manson Family Cult for a new play festival in 2019. The first professional piece this director-writer duo collaborated on was a satirical dark comedy based on the kidnapping of Patty Hearst for a Philadelphia play festival in 2022. With the insatiable hunger to create and collaborate, it only felt a natural progression to provide a platform for other artists, produce more work, and officialize our partnership. TBD believes that in championing new voices and work, we will also be able to reward new audience members with new experiences.

THEATER BY DEVELOPMENT is a haven where artists can cultivate new concepts and works while providing a platform to showcase their skills & talent.
We believe that in championing new voices and work, we will also be able to reward new audience members with new experiences. Experiences that oddly resonate with our shared uncertainty & ambition in a cruelly ridiculous world. Ridiculous and arbitrary, postmodern and surreal: we interrogate the absurdity in life, uniquely making the individual universal.
THEATER BY DEVELOPMENT uplifts artists in various ways. Monthly workshops help our writers develop new ideas, push themselves towards growth, and reach new audiences. From our workshops, we cultivate work created by new voices, culminating in larger-scope productions. We make these productions possible with smaller-scale fundraiser experiences that broaden our scope by showcasing talent, challenging form, and partnering with small businesses and communities.
Monti and Andrew met in their undergrad theater program in Center City right in the heart Phiadelphia.
