Rise and shine and come to class. In this dance(-ish) class, we will move to wake and warm the body from the ground up. Expect movement that loosens, lengthens and leads to an easy improvisation. There will be opportunities to work with a partner, touch optional, and then voila! on with your day. All levels of experience (including no experience) in dance are welcome to this class. Prepare for your week of attending, performing, or working in the Cannonball Festival!

About the Artist

Kayliani Sood (she/they) is a queer dance artist, educator, and maker from Saint Peters, Missouri. As a multidisciplinary artist and somatic researcher, their work ranges in expression from movement to songwriting, poetry, and visual arts and moves to articulate rich, personal narratives of neurodivergence and femme experience. They hold a BFA in Dance from the University of the Arts, and have performed in recent years with Brian Sanders, Curt Haworth, and Vincent Johnson. In spring of 2024, Sood presented the dance film, “Sugar and Blue” at the 20/92 festival in Philadelphia with filmmaker Daniel Krantman. They are premiering their solo, “Valerie” in the Cannonball Festival, and duet “Jumper Cables” with collaborator Allison Smith in the Philadelphia Fringe Festival.

Philly Dance Share is a dance class share model based in Philadelphia, PA. Their mission is to provide dancers in Philly with classes to take, as well as opportunities to teach. They do the labor of renting the space and promoting the classes, to give the teachers more room + time to do what they do best: teach! More info: bit.ly/philly_dance_class_share
