Currents is a gripping dance solo inspired by the complex nature of water as it serves as both an essential resource for life as well as a looming threat of destruction. What does it mean to tread water, fight for survival, while also seeking vitality, solace, and renewal in a force that can both sustain and overwhelm us? Currents is a haunting journey that reflects the delicate balance between resilience and vulnerability, inviting witnesses to experience one woman’s connection to life and the natural world.

With over 100 offerings from rebellious circus, delicious dance, fearless theatre and activist art to workshops, parties, and more Cannonball pushes the boundaries of live performance at four different venues this Fringe. Come as you are and stay past bedtime at cannonballfestival.org.

About the Artist

Michelle Slavik is a Philadelphia dance artist, teacher and arts administrator.

Michelle has worked with several Philadelphia artists including Sarah Messenger, Natalie Gotter, Hilary Pearson, Megan Bridge, Keila Cordova and Kalila Kingsford Smith. In addition, Michelle has presented her own work at Leah Stein Dance Company's Studio Works, SpringUp Dance Festival, Small Plates Dance Festival, Kun-Yang Lin/Dancer's InHale Series, Koresh Dance Company's Artist Showcase, and Gibney Dance in New York City. Michelle is currently an artist in residence at Mascher Space.

In addition to choreography and performance, Michelle is an organizer and teacher for Philly Dance Share.

Michelle graduated in 2018 from Slippery Rock University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance.
