Funmi Adejobi swims in FISH, a one-woman clown show that follows the journey of a fish who wants to be a human. To do that, fish has got to learn how to walk, talk, and – most human of all – how to worry. FISH is directed and co-devised by Chris Manley.
With over 100 offerings from rebellious circus, delicious dance, fearless theatre and activist art to workshops, parties, and more Cannonball pushes the boundaries of live performance at four different venues this Fringe. Come as you are and stay past bedtime at cannonballfestival.org.

Funmi Adejobi (she/her) is an American clown, theater divisor, and a New Yorker. She trained in France at cole Philippe Gaulier with Carlo Jacucci, Michiko Gaulier and Kristine Landon-Smith. Funmi trained in New York City with Tallie Medel (Everything Everywhere All At Once), Chris Manley (Cirque du Soleil), Jeff Seal (The New York Times) and Eric Davis (Red Bastard). Funmi spent years struggling to balance her life and the multi-generational caretaking required of her after a family tragedy that left her feeling lost, stagnant and empty. Looking for an outlet to express her emotions, Funmi discovered the art of clown. Now, she performs all over Brooklyn (and select parts of Manhattan!) solo and with her troupe Lovely Day. With her new show, FISH, she is putting shape to the feeling.
Chris Manley (he/they) is an American writer, performer and clown. He is best known for his character Buttons. He was nominated for a Lucille Lortel Award for his performance in "The Nosebleed, " has performed with Cirque du Soleil and is honored to be listed in Le Petit Clown August Alphabetique alongside Abbott & Costello. He has performed at Lincoln Center, Ars Nova, The Montreal Just for Laughs Festival, the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater, The Peoples Improv Theater, the Toronto Sketch Fest and the Chicago Sketch Fest. You can see him in several national commercials and award winning films.
Funmi met Chris when she took a clown class he was teaching. The work resonated with her so deeply that she took it twice. Shortly thereafter, Chris directed her clown ensemble Lovely Day and thus began a generative, supportive, and exciting creative partnership. They have been working on FISH since October 2024.
