Future Ghosts Ensemble

Music, Immersive/Interactive Experience

Connect

Thrumming drums and circuit-drench strings swirl with howling winds. A journey through immersive, experimental soundscapes with electronic augmentation, The Future Ghosts Ensemble will premiere "My Skin Is Not My Own" by Joshua Marquez in addition to a cacophony of collaborative improvisations.

The Future Ghosts Ensemble are a diverse cast from Philadelphia’s improvisation and new music scenes comprised of guitarist/composer Joshua Marquez, bassist Pete Dennis, saxophonist Noa Even, and percussionists Anne Ishii and Kevin Diehl. The entire ensemble will be performing their instruments through circuit-bent electronics, blurring the lines between each member’s musical voice.

The evening will begin with a performance of Marquez’s “My Skin is Not My Own”, a journey through ancestral grief, introspection, and liminality. To conclude, the Future Ghosts will perform a series of collaborative group improvisations that may change moment-to-moment before spilling over into a chaotic reservoir of sound.

The Future Ghosts Ensemble will be performing on Friday 9/20 and Saturday 9/21 at the Evangelical Church of the Atonement (1542 E Montgomery Ave) at 8pm. Tickets are $20. All are welcome.
