About the Artist

Mopped Stage Productions connects those who study theatre with those who practice theatre by staging performances in support of emergent scholarship.

Playwright Alison Hyde Pascale is a performance scholar practitioner with a focus on how gender legibility has historically impacted the perceived efficacy of female religious ritual - in other words, she works on nuns playing pretend. Her work attempts to bridge the divide between the premodern past and the present by using nontraditional presentation methods - like play and performance - to disseminate her research on medieval ritual and female communities beyond the academic sphere.
