My Body Your Eyes

Laura D'Amico, M Nield, MahataMmoho Collective & Nancy Hughes

Dance, Music

Connect

My Body Your Eyes is a multi-choreographer dance performance bringing together ritual, resistance, personal narrative, and myth. Created by MahataMmoho Collective, M Neild, Laura D’Amico, and Nancy Hughes, the works in this program trace humanness through movement, voice, image, and embodiment.
Nancy Hughes’ if she is the storm, is also the shelter, with M Neild, is inspired by the care, chaos, and transformation found in the family and friend relationships of Hayao Miyazaki’s Ponyo. The piece features the recurring image of a two-headed monster that is an echo between past and future selves into the constant present body.
M Neild’s Home:Body is a two-part solo rooted in a transformative Reiki experience. It follows the arc from dissociation and trauma toward presence and regulation, using original music and breath-driven movement to chart the path home to the self.
Laura D’Amico’s solo was developed during a Fulbright Fellowship in Italy and examines the paradox of proto-Christian women, pagan ritual, and the erotic in sacred art and history. Dancing nude inside a transparent five-sided box, D’Amico invokes ancient Roman questions about the sacred and the objectified female form while asking what remains of our spiritual inheritance today.
MahataMmoho Collective, founded by Megan A. Rakeepile in Buffalo, NY, contributes a unity-focused piece aligned with their mission to center collaboration, accessibility, and artistic empowerment across difference.
Together, the works in Your Eyes My Body ask how we move with what we inherit, how we find liberation, and how the body holds memory, mystery and knowing.
