Connect

This show is an assortment of dramatic movement-saturated scenes exploring what it means to remove memories and some aspects of the familiar. Through poem theater, experimental song and a splash of puppetry, we explore removal with tender and mysterious human manners.

We experiment with form because we are fascinated with the act of performing and what draws people to do it and watch it and perform in the everyday for each other. People want to experience the unexpected within certain parameters in theater: can removing recognizable aspects of performing create intrigue? Can it mimic and stimulate growing? Within this joyful experimentation, we are consciously not directly addressing looming societal questions about removal; we are playfully looking at and celebrating the concept of removal. We are serious about being wildly alive and finding ways to be in a society that supports each other and grapples with the intricacies of relating to each other.

With over 100 offerings from rebellious circus, delicious dance, fearless theatre and activist art to workshops, parties, and more Cannonball pushes the boundaries of live performance at four different venues this Fringe. Come as you are and stay past bedtime at cannonballfestival.org.

About the Artist

We are a DIY theater collective based in Baltimore and founded in 2022. We are a group of people who devise original, thought-provoking, intense, humorous theater art that experiments with form and relationships. Because our collective works in a variety of spaces that host different types of performing arts: poetry, comedy, performance art, music, and storytelling, we are a connecting force between different DIY art scenes that can often feel isolated. We are interested in cultivating artistic thought and community that resists boring and oppressive hierarchical standards, striving to make art that is really new while at the same time welcoming and surprisingly strong and maybe even a little healing.
