Meet Marz, a Muslim first-generation Pakistani-American artist in modern day Queens. Caught between queerness, family, and faith, the play follows Mars through bars, hotel suites, hospitals, and the F train, where they meet: A talking cat, a mystical drag queen (and closeted genie) with perfect pitch, and a mysterious stalker on Grindr. A surrealist fantasia with heart, drama, and a fabulous drag number.

Cannonball is the largest hub of the Philadelphia Fringe Festival, championing a revolutionary artist-led model that prioritizes equity, experimentation, and community connection. Now in its sixth year, Cannonball presents more than 100 artists across five stages, representing nearly 30 percent of the overall Philadelphia Fringe Festival. From rebellious circus and delicious dance to fearless theater and activist art, Cannonball pushes the boundaries of live performance while creating a vibrant, artist-centered ecosystem for independent performance makers and adventurous audiences alike.

About the Artist

Āsim Ali Naqvi (they/them) is a non-binary Pakistani-American queer immigrant playwright. Āsim’s work has appeared in the Summer Shorts Short Play Festival(OUT/PLAY NYC), the Future Classics Festival (TITAN Theater Company), Bad Theater Festival, and New York Theater Festival, among others. They were also proud to present their work at AANGAN: South Asian Center for Art & Thought’s Literature Festival in 2024, and to be featured as part of Intimate Artists Nights with The Makers Ensemble. They are also proud to have been selected for the Fall 2025 Fresh Binder Productions Writers Cohort.
When not working on theater projects, Āsim thinks a lot about tarot cards, chandeliers, and cats.
