Muyu Yuan Ruba is a Chinese movement-based artist. She holds a B.F.A. in Dance from Shanghai Normal University (2013) and an M.F.A. from Temple University (2017). In 2016, Ruba founded both Shero Dance Company and L&M Dance Studio. She joined Cardell Dance Theater in 2021 and was selected to perform as the Raven in Opera Philadelphia's “The Raven” production in 2022. The Rubys Artist Grant in 2021 recognized her dedication to the craft. Her choreography was featured at the Philadelphia Fall Arts Festival, the Fringe Art Festival, the 7th Sao Paulo International Performance Art Exhibition Etc. She has been invited to International Dance Day Shanghai 2023, co-teaching Master classes with Merian Soto at Shanghai Theatre Academy and Zhejiang Conservatory of Music. Additionally, she is an adjunct professor at Temple University in the Dance department. Ruba's artistic vision is driven by her desire to promote social justice and her willingness to experiment with diverse media. Her work incorporates puppetry, installations, video, improvisation, and sound, resulting in multifaceted and engaging performances.
