Where There is Hope, There is Light…

Connect

Where There is Hope, There is Light is a reflective ceremony on rituals and their connection with the human condition.
How ritual acts provide a sense of foundation, significance, and trust in the all-too-familiar moments of uncertainty.
How the vicarious ritual of collective gathering that is being an audience member provides an occasion for connection, inspiration, and revelation.
Accompanied by violinist, Noah Julian, this collaborative duet merges hypnotic melodies, mesmerizing acrobatics, and symbolic rites. Unfolding qualities of repetition & mystery, hope & despair, light & void, in the pursuit of identity, resolution, and transcendence.

"Where there is death, there is a spark.
Where there is a spark, there is a beginning.
Where there is a beginning, there is a lack.
Where there is a lack, there is despair.
Where there is despair, there is ritual.
Where there is Ritual, there is a gathering.
Where there is gathering, there is momentum.
Where there is momentum, there is energy.
Where there is energy, there is hope.
Where there is hope, there is light"

About the Artist

Alex Brazinski (he/him) Alex is a licensed acupuncturist, yoga instructor, and movement practitioner who teaches a combination of dance acrobatics, floorwork, and mobility in Philadelphia. After injuries sustained as a distance track athlete in college, Alex pursued movement endeavors that provided a greater sense of sustainability, creativity, and awareness. He felt at home in movement-based practices such as yoga and dance. The rest of Alexs 20s were spent diving into this craft focusing on acrobatics and floorwork as a creative outlet and a holistic embodied practice. Now in his 30s, Alex is curious about the evolution of his dance work from a personal practice into the world of choreography and performance. Alex has studied intensively under Tom Weksler through Movement Archery and Zen Acrobatics and now teaches acrobatics and floorwork classes at Urban Movement Arts in Philadelphia. Alex had spent the summer of 2023 working as a dancer/acrobat under the choreographer, Isaac Lerner, with the Des Moines Metropolitan Opera in its production of The Love of Three Oranges. Noah Julian Sedgwick (he/him) Noah Julian graduated from the Boston Conservatory of Music with a Bachelors of Music in 2003. Later studying from the brilliant pedagogue Lee Snyder. In Noahs 20s an intense struggle with Rheumatoid Arthritis inspired a near decade pivot away from music and toward Yoga and movement. Nevine Michaan, Abbie Galvin and Simon Park are particularly notable teachers from a variety of Yoga disciplines. The decades to follow would involve an integration of disciplines. Movement, as approached from a Yogic perspective, brought a holistic spiritual dimension to musical practice. The technical aspects of being a violinist accompanied the methodology of moving with proficiency. Today Noah teaches Katonah Yoga, calisthenics and music to students of diverse ages, backgrounds and abilities. Noah has practiced and performed extensively in the western classical music tradition as well
