Overview

Join sharedelusion, a contemporary dance collective founded by Lucy Flippen and Magaly Gallagher, as they present see me to see you. We aim to capture through dance the beauty of connection between people. This work researches the understanding of one’s own identity through relationships with friends, with family, with oneself. To begin the research, Lucy and Magaly used Borderlands/La Frontera: The New Mestiza by Gloria Anzalda and Dispossesion: The Performative in the Political by Judith Butler and Athena Athanasiou. The ideas from these writers inspire Lucy and Magaly to move and create images. Specifically, they think about how the buzzwords (and phrases) become movement, which often validates felt realities. We would like you to view the dancers as people who consider each other the context under which they are dancing. They are constantly responding to each other. Every action is a reaction.

Sharedelusion is a dance collective based in Philadelphia founded by Magaly Gallagher and Lucy Flippen. We aim to capture through dance the beauty of connection between people. We are researching the understanding of one's own identity through relationships with friends, with family, with oneself. The ideas from these writers inspire Lucy and Magaly to create moving images. Our process begins with words that become movement, which validate our felt realities.
