Thank you for an amazing 2024 Fringe season! Stay tuned for 2025 Fringe Festival dates.
Whore's Eye View is a mad dash through 10,000 years of history from a sex worker's perspective. Equal parts stand up comedy, history lecture, and personal storytelling, Kaytlin Bailey masterfully unpacks the age-old stigma surrounding the oldest profession.
"Bailey's terrific writing and comic delivery made this review engaging, and her reflections upon connections between history and her own identity including awareness of her privileges elevate Whore's Eye View. The show connected history to personal experience in relevant and meaningful ways." -Broad Street Review.
I aspire to live in a healthy, free society where everyone has access to rights and opportunities to determine their own future. I seek the decriminalization of sex work, where individuals are not arrested and cannot be evicted, fired, or lose custody of their children because of their participation in sex work. My views are backed by Amnesty International, The World Health Organization, Human Rights Watch, and UNAIDS who all agree that the decriminalization of sex work is the only policy that reduces violence.
In some ways, I've been working on Whore's Eye View for decades. I wrote my college thesis on brothels in Charleston, SC, and my own decision to do sex work was informed by my curiosity about courtesans throughout history. In the years I've been hosting The Oldest Profession Podcast, my curiosity has become an obsession, and has developed into a conviction that the rights of sex workers underlie critical rights for all of us but especially for women.
Whore's Eye View is a very personal story. It's also a call to action that in order to achieve the decriminalization of sex work, we must change the stories we are telling about the oldest profession. Please join me.
