The Death Circus is an artistic exploration of universal end-of-life themes and rituals that connect us. Aerialists, movement artists, and musicians invite the audience to reflect on some of the complexities surrounding loss, decay, grief, fear, and peace.
Death touches us all. It is inevitable and, in this country, there is an uncomfortable line between morbid curiosity and taboo regarding end of life themes. As more and more of us are affected by death (increased crime rates, mass shootings, ongoing wars, health epidemics, etc.), it’s become more clear that taboos surrounding death prevent individuals and communities from grieving and processing loss in healthy ways.
The Death Circus works to validate some of the complexities surrounding the end of life and, in a sense, tell the audience it’s ok to explore this important subject.
