ABOUT THE ARTIST
Janine Renee Cunningham is a Philadelphia based artist working in performance, theater, and video. Her work explores time and how the past often emerges in the present and unfolds into the future. She is interested in how these cycles impact how we think and what we believe. Her performance work has been presented by On the Boards, Prelude Festival, Dixon Place, the World Ecology Resource Network, and Cannonball. In 2020, she was an Associate Artist with Culture Push, an organization that supports artists with boundary-pushing, interdisciplinary and socially engaged projects. In 2018, she was a fellow with EmergeNYC, an incubator for mostly POC, women and LGBTQIA+ artists exploring the intersections of art and activism. She holds an MFA in Interdisciplinary Art with a focus in Performance Creation from Goddard College and a BA in International Studies from Portland State University. She attended the Evening Acting Conservatory program at the Atlantic Acting School in New York City.
