Bharathanatyam is a centuries old classical dance form that developed in the royal courts and temples of Southern India. This digital performance features a collection of songs, comprising of both abstract dance and narrative storytelling that bring to life a rich world of charecters and perspectives from Southern Indian music and poetry traditions.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Lakshmi Thiagarajan is a Bharathanatyam artist currently based in Madurai, India. She’s learnt and practised this artform for over 15 years initially under the tutelage of Ms. Shanthini Arunagiri and currently pursues further training under the guidance of Dr Apoorva Jayaraman. She completed her arangatram (first solo recital of the traditional repetoire spanning two hours) in 2014, was one of the top 20 finalists at HiddenIdol, a national level dance contest in India, and has performed in venues across India and Scotland.
