Details

Dates: October 1, 2022

Run Time: 120 mins

Venue: Cherry Street Pier

Overview

Join us to mark the completion of the 10th Walk Around Philadelphia and help celebrate JJ’s 1,000+ miles around the city’s edge!

Learn about the project, share your stories about the city’s borders and connect with others who’ve set out to explore the perimeter of Philadelphia.

This festive gathering at Cherry Street Pier will feature interactive stations, communty storytelling, special Walk Around Philadelphia swag & more. It’s free / pay-what-you-wish!

Since its 4-person artist residency origins in 2016, Walk Around Philadelphia has become a pilgrimage experience where hundreds (ranging in age from 12 to 94) have set out to explore the city’s perimeter.

Artist JJ Tiziou will have just completed his 10th walk (1,000+ miles around Philly’s edge!) and this September’s iteration of the walk will facilitate this unique experience of the city for ~300+ more participants.

The Walk itself will be accomplished in small groups with ten ~10 mile segments to choose from; you are invited to join for a half day, whole day, or multiple segments! [separate registration required via JJ’s website]

JJ Tiziou / Walk Around Philadelphia

JJ Tiziou has walked the full perimeter of Philadelphia 9 times and invites you to join in the 10th!

Celebrating 1,000+ miles around the city's furthest edges, JJ is continuing to work to make this unique experience of the city more accessible and inclusive.

This fall's iteration of the walk is broken down into 10 segments with multiple off-ramp options , more accessibility mapping, stipends for participants for whom finances are a barrier, and a joyous in-person celebration event at the end. For more information, visit www.WalkAroundPhiladelphia.com

When he's not working on developing & sharing this strange and magical pilgrimage adventure, JJ works part time as a massage therapist, serves as a block captain in West Philly, organizes concerts & other community events, and continues to be known as the guy who was the lead artist on that giant mural on the side of the parking garages at the airport.
