Overview

Who pays the price when men at the top declare war? Humble Materials presents a new adaptation of Erich M. Remarque’s 1928 novel. Set to original music, the play reframes Remarque’s central narrator to introduce five new characters who each have their own side of this classic story.

Set to original music by John Noel, Jessica Noel, Matt Subits and Justin Tyner, with choreography by Carolyn Breyer, Amy Henderson, Jessica Noel, Lisa Vacarelli and Yasmin Roberti, production design by Kat Caro, and co-direction by Monica Flory and Jessica Noel. 

About the Artist

Humble Materials is a physical theatre collective in residence at Philly PACK in South Philadelphia. They produce small-budget, large-impact, femme-centric work. Past projects include OF A FEATHER (2021 Fringie winner), MEDEA (2022), SCARLET LETTER (2022 Fringie winner), and THE YELLOW WALLPAPER (2023 Fringie Honorable Mention).
