The next generation of rock stars are joined on stage by cabaret legends Red 40, Johnny Showcase, Jess Conda, and Lex Thammavong to pay homage to David Bowie, sharing the sound and vision of his famed Berlin Trilogy.
This special event will feature 28 songs from all three of Bowie’s Berlin Albums — Low (1977), “Heroes” (1977) and Lodger (1979) — performed by Philly’s cabaret icons alongside students aged 10-18 from the Paul Green Rock Academy.
From a purely musical perspective, Bowie’s catalog is a one-stop-shop in terms of genres, moods, modes, and approaches, all played by top-notch musicians. The Berlin Trilogy is a highly influential and acclaimed body of work in the artist’s decades-spanning catalog. Originating from Bowie’s move from Los Angeles to a divided Germany in 1976 to address a worsening drug addiction, the Berlin Albums show Bowie at one of his most innovative, but also alienated periods of life.
