One relationship, every universe.
Constellations, a smart and stellar two-hander by playwright Nick Payne, explores life’s infinitely unique outcomes and the endless possibilities that could have been. Marianne, a theoretical physicist, and Roland, a beekeeper, meet via chance encounter at a party. They soon date, then break up – at least in this timeline. In another, they marry – or they go their separate ways as friends. Every choice and event that could occur in their relationship will take place in a parallel universe. As illness, infidelity, and identity crises thread themselves in and out of Roland and Marianne’s different lives, Constellations weaves a love story that stretches across the multiverse.
Id Circo Theatre Group celebrates stories that need to be expressed and experienced live on stage. A new Philadelphia-based performing arts collective, its inaugural production this September with this intimate play, exploring life’s infinite unique outcomes through an unforgettable relationship.

It was founded in 2022 by director Nora Gair and actors Seraina Schottland and Xavier McKinnon to bring the shared narratives they love to light. Id Circo means "for this reason" while also speaking to the playful "id" and the real-world physical "circles" where all the best stories are told.
