Can two clowns improvise a meal? Dinner! Franny and Connor Wrote a Cookbook is an interactive cooking show live-directed by self-described food influencers with no prior knowledge of the ingredients, but a deep passion for food. High cuisine meets low class in this intimate Chopped-style experience!
During the COVID-19 shutdown, Connor and Franny, two food-obsessed clowns, created Dinner! Franny and Connor Write a Cookbook, a digital cooking show for small audiences. In these Zoom-based performances, they collaborated one on one with audiences from across the country and improvised recipes based solely on the ingredients found in the audience members’ pantries. Now, nearly three years later, they’ve compiled those recipes into a cookbook that they’re ready to share with the world and Philadelphia Fringe! But will their recipes fly or flop? And can you cook on an NDA?
Dinner! (Din-ner-Ex-cluh-may-shun-point) is part dinner party-part book launch event but a total clown show. Interactive cooking demonstrations bring the audience into the kitchen with these idiot chefs to build something truly unique. In doing so, they examine the ways food inspires our senses and how it brings us together. It all culminates with a communal tasting of a completely original recipe shared with a small audience.
Join Connor and Franny for a night of culinary antics! Who knows? You may become a food influencer yourself!
Cannonball, produced by Almanac Dance Circus Theatre, is the first and largest independent festival hub of the Philadelphia Fringe that presents risk-taking independent artists in back-to-back performances next to delicious lounge spaces, fostering creative collisions and community conversation.
Learn MoreFranny and Connor are two clowns who’ve been laughing together since they met as babies in college. As performers, and creators, they make work that tests the limits of liveness in performance. In their work, they trip, bumble, fidget, and, eventually, fall upon a truth that they share with the audience like a delicious morsel. Francesca Chilcote serves as the Co-Artistic Director for Faction of Fools Theatre Company. Connor, on the other hand, is too punk for institutions. And yet, both have attained their master’s degrees in clowning. So when you see their shows, you know you’re in funny hands.
