Flamencodanza is a duo collaboration that started five years ago at the Avignon Festival in France. Different elements fuse together in a unique manner producing an award-winning show with beauty and inspiration. Elements of Flamenco, Brazilian music and jazz give the music a variety of colours. The contemporary flamenco dance is made of strength, elegance and beauty.

The dancer was an absolute artist, skilled, charismatic, beautiful and dynamic. The guitar player was masterful, relaxed, and alternating between, featuring his playing, when the dancer was off stage, and perfectly complimenting her, in synch with her, both leading her and following her, when she dramatically appeared on stage, for each piece. She was inspiring. Her feet not only were beautiful to watch, not only acted as the “drums” to her partner’s guitar, but they seemed to bring us back in time, to the roots of the music, the roots of the language, the roots of the culture. You could not take your eyes off her. It was also just the right length of time for the experience, musically, visually, culturally. 

 

 

 

About the Artist

Aylin Bayaz, contemporary Flamenco dancer based in Sitges, Spain. She trained at the Amor De Dios studios and performed in “tablaos flamencos” in Madrid, and later moved to Barcelona to complete her MA in Dance at the Institute of the Arts in 2018. Her duo show “Flamencodanza” -Best show of dance and physical theatre, Hollywood Fringe 2022, Fringe 2023 Award for Artistic Merit, was premiered in Avignon, France in 2021. She has toured internationally as a solo dancer accompanied by excellent Flamenco artists e.g. Antonio Sánchez, nephew of late Paco de Lucía. She has taught Flamenco courses at the Institute if the Arts Barcelona and the MOVEIT Show, London.

Raul Mannola, Buenos Aires 1963, is a Flamenco guitarist with a jazz background, he studied with flamenco guitar master Manolo Sanlúcar. He has dedicated more than 30 years to the study of flamenco guitar and released 10 solo albums. The album “Clear Dawn” with his Jazz fusion group “Aurora Clara” received excellent reviews internationally. He worked as a flamenco guitar teacher at the Madrid Music Conservatory during 10 years.
