“Any decent realtor… goes on about ‘good bones’… You could make this place beautiful.” How do you refurbish the “good bones” of your life? A 74-year-old gay artist, four decades sober, looks back on his journey. With humor and confessional honesty, he connects the life events — first love to the AIDs epidemic to a bout with clinical depression to caring for his father — that finally bring him home, and give him the strength to double down on love after his husband suffers a serious stroke. It’s a hell of a story — and one you probably haven’t heard before.
Fred Andersen is a Delaware Valley native who has been performing and writing for 30+ years. He has appeared in numerous area productions, including with The Arden Theatre, Delaware Shakespeare and New Light Theater in productions of Our Town, James and the Giant Peach, Othello, Merry Wives of Windsor, and online productions of A Misummer Nights Dream and Hamlet. While living in Los Angeles he appeared with Theater Palisades in productions of Rumors and Scapino, as well as the lead in the independent sci fi comedy film "Marching Out of Time".
Fred also appeared with ComedySportz Philadelphia, and was one of the founding members of Tongue & Groove Spontaneous Theater.
Philly Fringe productions include Hermitage: The Strange Stories of the Ghost Men of Harlem as well as The Best of Everything, which was subsequently produced at the Walnut Street Theater by Pianosa Group and at the Dublin Ireland Theater Festival.
