A solo requiem in five parts to honor the memory of a loved one lost to suicide. The music incorporates dozens of vocal layers and loops drawn from recent and ancient memory. The listener is immersed in a rippling world of impossible questions, eventually finding solace in simple melodies and hopeful reflections.
Peter Christian is a musician living in Philadelphia. He is committed to music collaboration as a playground for social engagement and healing. He has collaborated as a singer, producer, songwriter, composer, and arranger across the northeast, and plays in the electronic music duo JNPR, making "inexplicably ethereal sounds" (Philadelphia Inquirer). Peter has sung in choirs all his life and believes that voices together can have tremendous power. He has written dozens of works that incorporate the human voice and served recently as composer-in-residence at Christ Church in Philadelphia (2019-20). As a producer, Peter layers sound textures suggesting distant worlds. He was commissioned by Jeanne Lyons and Daniel Travis Draper to create sound design for their theatre work "Scarcity," premiered in 2019 at the Lizé Puppet Art Colony in Yilan, Taiwan. Other project collaborators have included MANA Quartet, PUBLIQuartet, Network for New Music, Riverside Choral Society, Play On Philly Symphony Orchestra, Fresh Cut Brass, Reading Choral Society, and students at Pig Iron School for Advanced Performance Training. Peter is currently in the PhD program for music composition at Rutgers University, studying with Melissa Dunphy and Scott Ordway, and previously studied at West Chester University.
