Overview

mike baby please is a willing reckoning of consequentials, shifting through wrestling, yelling, nestling, grunting, + fucking; there will be tears. seeking out, welcoming, + mourning hitting where it hurts most, we enter — the wrestling smackdown that will ruin us more than we know.

Cannonball, produced by Almanac Dance Circus Theatre, is the first and largest independent festival hub of the Philadelphia Fringe that presents risk-taking independent artists in back-to-back performances next to delicious lounge spaces, fostering creative collisions and community conversation.

About the Artist

mik (they/he) is a white, trans, queer + fat multidisciplinary artist currently based on Lenni Lenape land. their research deeply investigates how queerness inhabits performative structures + how in these spaces, vulgarities exist in simultaneity with notions of intimacy, care + tenderness. he lives inside a constant welling; a need for quivers, heaving, uncontrollable laughter, sobs, + indiscriminate violence guides them into creating temporary worlds that are maniacally unkempt and grotesquely forgiving. tori (they/he/she) is a white, queer, trans artist in so-called Philadelphia, on Lenni Lenape land. playing with obsession, pleasure, shame, humor + aggression, they devise circumstances for sensory satisfaction + physical risk. committed to work that is unextractable from this moment, they create physical + emotional landscapes that are precisely current, a way of honoring prolonged global, local, + personal crisis. tori is learning about dancing at the edges of the world. together, mik + tori traverse the extremes of aggression and tenderness; exploring care, hypersexuality, and the grotesque while challenging notions of butch relationality.
