Roots Ignite is a choreographed dance piece that reflects the choreographer’s and dancers personal connections to dance, family, and love. This piece is made up three years worth of research, done through improvisations, zoom meetings, and music editing. The research surrounds ways people build relationships or connect with one another. The piece represents the choreographers own stories, as well as the stories of the cast and dancers. These stories represent events that have occurred in thier lives that have affected the connections they have with the specific relationships to their families, dance, and past/present lovers. These stories are told through improvisation and choreographed movement. The music selections that you will hear in Roots Ignite is music the choreographer, Abby Lamb, is connected to. These certain songs remind the hear of specific people or events that have occurred in her life. These songs represent memories and connections to her family, dance, and past romantic relationships. The goal for this production is for audiences to find a connection to their own stories or memories by watching.
