Study Hall: Comedy Inspired By Lectures

Overview

Study Hall is back live on stage for some in person lessons and laughs! Now in it’s seventh year, Study Hall invites guests from the world of academia and beyond to present short lectures on a topic from their field. After each lecture a cast of some of Philly’s best and funniest performers will use what they’ve learned (or didn’t) to improvise hilarious scenes right before your eyes! You’ll learn and laugh in one side-splitting hour you won’t see anywhere else!

Study Hall began as part of an act with Professor Michael Yudell in the Philadelphia Science Festival (2011-2013). In 2014 Study Hall was made a regular show at Philly Improv Theater perofrming monthly for 6 years until covid hit. In the year and half since Study Hall has performed over two dozen online shows featuring guests and performers from all over the country. Study Hall has been a part of Crossroads Comedy Theater since April 2021.

In addition to performing online and a various theaters in Philadelphia, Study Hall has been invited by many prestigious intitutions for private performances. The Franklin Institute, The Academy of Natural Sciences, Drexel University, Thomas Jefferson University, the Museum of the American Revolution, to name a few. Crossroads Comedy Theater

Crossroads Comedy Theater is a home for comedy shows and podcasts on stage, online, and on air featuring performers from the Philly area and beyond. Our shows, much like our performers, are at a crossroads of different forms of entertainment mixing hilarious improvised scenes with lectures, news, the movies, and more. We performed over two dozen online shows throughout the pandemic and plan on continuing in a limited capacity now that we can perform live in front of real humans again. We are new and we greatly appreciate your support!
