“’Oh, the hazards of love.’
You’ll learn soon enough
The prettiest whistles won’t wrestle the thistles undone.”
Margaret’s chance encounter with a wounded fawn in the wild leads her on a dark, magical journey where she’ll learn firsthand “The Hazards of Love.” Based on The Decemberists’ acclaimed concept album of the same name, The Hazards Of Love will be The Hum’n’bards’ return to album adaptation after the 2018 staging of The Taxpayers’ God Forgive These Bastards. Join us as we weave this tragic folk-rock opera.
Can true love blossom between Margaret & the curiously transfigured fawn-man William, or will they wager all as an overprotective Queen & her dastardly hired hand stand in the way? As the song goes, “you’ll learn soon enough.”
This show will be presented in-person and digitally. The in-person performances will take place at Front Street Dive, on the second floor of Victoria Freehouse in Philadelphia. A digital stream of the show will be available online between October 3rd-10th. Anyone purchasing tickets for the digital stream will receive an email with instructions on how to access it.
