As a witness, I invite you to slow down, listen, and allow yourself to move into a reflective state. The Way the Light Hits the Puddle is a dance performance that acts as a cathartic release, piling up grief and wringing it out like a wet towel that soaks the floor. This work is empathetic and explores ways of exhausting movement to better understand ourselves and the experience of those around us. It is an attempt to live inside the narrow beam of light inside this world. Let your heart be open as you absorb the work, and sink into the collective witnessing as a form of care for the dancers. Open your ears and listen with your eyes. We can hold each other with our presence.
With over 100 offerings from rebellious circus, delicious dance, fearless theatre and activist art to workshops, parties, and more Cannonball pushes the boundaries of live performance at four different venues this Fringe. Come as you are and stay past bedtime at cannonballfestival.org.Learn MoreAlly Wilson is a dance artist, born and raised in Pennsylvania. After graduating high school, she moved to Philadelphia to attend the University of the Arts School of Dance. Following the school’s unfortunate sudden closure, she moved to Vermont to finish her studies at Bennington College in their new BFA Dance program under the direction of Donna Faye Burchfield. She received her degree in December of 2024. While in school she has had the opportunity to perform in original and repertory works by Sidra Bell, Jesse Zaritt, Gary Reagan, Hélène Simoneau, Netta Yerushalmy, Gary Jeter, and Rena Butler. Ally generates movement from a place of care, empathy, and surrender. She enjoys making a mess and picking up the pieces in her process.
