YOLO DESCRIPTION

Don and Myrna have been married for 47 years. But when their daughter sends them an “Alexa”, their comfortable routine is disrupted. Told with playfulness and heart, YOLO is a story of technology, change, and connection in the modern world. Yolo is approximately 35 minutes long and is a poignant and entertaining all ages play about how seniors wrestle with technology, that evolves into a nostalgic and poetic story about how human connection is crucial in this age of technology.

Performers:

Joy Dolo is an Actor and Improvisor in the Twin Cities. She has played with the following companies: Mixed Blood, Jungle Theater, Frank Theatre, Sod House, Pillsbury House, Children’s Theatre Company, Park Square Theatre, Ten Thousand Things and the Guthrie. Joy is the Host of American Public Media’s podcast “Forever Ago” and is a founding member of Blackout Improv Comedy- the Twin Cities first all black improv troupe. She is a recipient of a 2014 Ivey award, One of the Best Actresses recognized in the 2018 MN Theater Awards, City Pages Artist of the Year 2018, Changemaker for MPR and the Women’s Press.

Luverne Seifert is Co-artistic director of Sod House Theater and has been acting and directing professionally for over 30 years. He received a National Fox Fellowship for distinguished achievement in 2017, a Mcknight Fellowship for Theater Artists in 2003 and an Ivey Award in 2009 for his Performance as Phillip K Dick in 800 Words. He is currently a Senior Teaching Specialist in the Department of Theater Arts and Dance at the University of Minnesota where he has been teaching for 15 years. He has acted nationally at South Coast Rep, Berkeley Rep, Arizona Rep, Trinity Rep, The La Jolla Playhouse, Arts Emerson, The Wilma Theater, The New Victory Theater in addition to performing locally with The Guthrie Theater, The Children’s Theater and Ten Thousand Things. He holds a BA from Augsburg College and is certified in European clowning at The Burlesque Center

Feel So Young

Feel So Young Theater was developed in the spring of 2019 with the mission of creating thoughtful entertainment to seniors that focuses on issues concerning our aging population and bringing it to the places that they reside.
