Explore the city’s edge — and the art of printmaking — in one creative session hosted by Walk Around Philadelphia.
We'll use letterpress prinmaking to overlay Philadelphia's border over top of the land and water of the Delaware Watershed, revealing how our human-defined boundaries interact with the landscapes beneath them.
This quick and easy family-friendly activity is a great way to learn about Walk Around Philadelphia's explorations of the city's edge and our work to make that experience more accessible to all.
It's also a great FREE opportunity to make a sweet gift for someone who loves Philly!

Walk Around Philadelphia is a participatory public art project and community engagement initiative that invites people to explore the city’s edges on foot—fostering dialogue around access, equity, and belonging in public spaces. We create accessible, inclusive recreational and educational opportunities that connect people to nature, parks, and each other while deepening their understanding of the social and environmental systems that shape our city.
What began as an artist residency has grown into a vibrant, citywide movement—engaging over 2, 000 participants and building a diverse community of neighbors, artists, educators, and civic leaders.
Our mission is to create transformative opportunities for learning, reflection, and connection by inviting people to walk the city’s edges, explore the landscapes of our parks and public spaces, and imagine a more equitable and welcoming Philadelphia. Through walking, storytelling, mapping, and creative collaboration, we inspire people to care for the natural and built environment, engage with one another across lines of difference, and contribute to a more vibrant, livable community for all.
Walk Around Philadelphia founder JJ Tiziou is an artist, community organizer & massage therapist based in West Philadelphia. His 85, 000 sq ft How Philly Moves mural at Philadelphia International Airport is the largest piece of public art in the city and was named one of the nation's best public art projects by Americans for the Arts. To date, he has walked the full perimeter of Philadelphia 15 times and is joined by a growing community of Circumnavigators.
