Dancing in Yesterday’s Stage Makeup is a kaleidoscopic frolic through the inner worlds of ballet dancers swept up in the excitement of a house party. Joyful chaos blurs the lines between dancers’ realities, revealing glimpses into personal fantasies and emotions. Choreographed sequences mix classical and contemporary ballet lineages with abandon.

This full-length performance playfully flirts with the extravagance of Louis XIV’s court on a limited budget. A cramped apartment becomes Versailles, and colorful spandex, instead of silk, adorns the “aristocracy.” Ecstasy, catharsis, and camaraderie pour out on the dance floor with every movement.

This production marks the debut of Corps de Ballet PHL, a collective of local artists with a shared vision for practicing and performing ballet in adulthood. The group encourages lifelong dancers to experiment, express themselves, and celebrate the parts of ballet they love.
