About the Artist

Joe Torsella is a former politician, public servant, and diplomat. He was elected as Pennsylvania State Treasurer from 2017 to 2021. He was the founding president and CEO of the National Constitution Center, overseeing it from concept through construction and opening in 2003, and later returned for a second stint as CEO, for a total of 10 years as head of that institution. He also previously served as US Ambassador to the United Nations for Management and Reform, Chairman of the Pennsylvania State Board of Education, and Deputy Mayor of Philadelphia.

He first discovered acting as a youth apprentice with the Bloomsburg Theater Ensemble in Bloomsburg, PA. As an actor, he trained at Stella Adler Studio, NY, and is a graduate of the Two-Year Acting Program at the William Esper Studio, NY. Previous stage credits in the Philadelphia region include Macbeth (Macbeth), The Outsider (Arthur Vance), A Kid Like Jake (Greg), Crazy for You (Lank Hawkins), Merry Wives of Windsor(Frank Ford), and God’s Favorite (David.) He has also appeared in film and television.

He is a lifelong Pennsylvanian, and lives in Flourtown. He and his wife Carolyn have four children.
