Echoes of Renewal

Continuum Dance Project

Dance, Interdisciplinary

Connect

Echoes of Renewal is a visually striking dance work that explores the essential connection between humanity and the natural world. Created by Continuum Dance Project, with projection by Ernesto Galan, the piece blends powerful, expressive choreography with themes of attention, care, and reciprocity; inviting viewers to feel, not just observe, our place within nature’s cycles.

Inspired by Robin Wall Kimmerer’s 'Braiding Sweetgrass' and a personal sense of disconnection, the work challenges audiences to reconsider their relationship to the seasons, and the land we inhabit. Designed for both indoor and outdoor stages, Echoes of Renewal is adaptable, evocative, and timely; an experience that resonates long after the final movement.

The creation of this work is made possible by a year-long residency at Boston University Wheelock’s Earl Center for Learning & Innovation.

Founded in 2000, the Performance Garage is housed in a historic 19th-century building that was originally a horse stable. Since 2002, the façade and interiors were renovated, and the space was transformed into supportive non-profit dance studios with residencies, educational programs, and a 110-seat dance theater.

About the Artist

Continuum Dance Project (CDP) is a Boston-based dance company dedicated to creating site-specific, cross-disciplinary, and immersive performances. Under the co-direction of Fernadina Chan & Adriane Brayton, CDP places the audience at the center of each work, transforming them from spectators into active participants. Since its founding in 2013, the company has expanded the possibilities of experiential dance through interactive engagement and performances in unconventional spaces.

In 2023, CDP premiered Becoming Water as part of the Momentum Greenway Dance Program, presented by Amazon. This site-responsive series featured new works by Continuum Dance Project alongside Jean Appolon Expressions, Public Displays of Motion, and Vimoksha Dance Company. CDP has been recognized with numerous awards and residencies, including a 2020 Live Arts Boston grant from The Boston Foundation, a 2022 Boston Dancemakers Residency (with support from the Aliad Fund at The Boston Foundation), a 2021 Massachusetts Cultural Council Artist Fellowship Finalist in Choreography, and the 2024 Artist in Residence at Boston University Wheelock’s Earl Center for Learning & Innovation.
