Goblet of Light is a work in progress — a glimpse into a larger project exploring the intersection of acrobatic performance, sensor technology, and live reactive environments.
In this preview showing, world-class acrobat and creator Axl performs wearing a self-designed system of movement sensors. Attached directly to his body, the sensors translate every gesture, tilt, and shift of weight into a live light and sound environment that responds in real time. The result is a reactive dialogue between physicality and technology — a performance where the environment itself becomes a partner.
This work sits at the meeting point of several disciplines: acrobatics, movement research, interactive technology, and sound design. The sensor system at its core is custom-built, routing movement data through a signal chain that generates both visual and audio output live, with no pre-recorded triggers. Every performance is different. The environment reacts to the performer, and the performer reacts to the environment — leaving space for improvisation, discovery, and surprise.
This showing is an opportunity to witness the technology and movement language at the heart of Goblet of Light in its most distilled form — one performer, a body in motion, and a world that responds to it.
This work is part of an ongoing experiment. As it develops, Goblet of Light will grow into a full interactive installation — periodically activated by an acrobatic performance that pushes the environment into new and unexpected territory.
