Axl grew up in Texas, training and competing as a gymnast and Sports Acrobat from an early age. A silver medallist at the 2016 Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championships, he spent over a decade at the elite level before turning his attention to the stage.
Since leaving competition, Axl has performed on stages and screens across the world — from America's Got Talent to Le Plus Grand Cabaret du Monde. He now works full time with Adelaide-based contemporary circus company Gravity and Other Myths, where he has been part of several creations including the current touring production Ten Thousand Hours.
Within Gravity and Other Myths, Axl has grown into the roles of technical and production manager alongside his performing — a natural extension of a curiosity about how things work that runs as deep as his physical practice. It is this intersection of movement and making that drives Goblet of Light, his first foray into self-designed interactive technology. Building the system himself — sensors, signal routing, sound and light — he brings the same rigour he applies to acrobatics to an entirely new discipline, exploring what becomes possible when a world-class mover and a reactive environment meet.
