Come experience the vibrant world of Kuchipudi with Kuchipudi Manjari, an evening celebrating the beauty, dynamism, and expressive richness of one of India’s classical art forms.

Originating in the village of Kuchipudi in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, Kuchipudi grew from a rich theatrical tradition that brought together dance, music, storytelling, and dramatic expression. Today, it is celebrated both as a solo classical dance form and as a tradition that continues to evolve. Known for its fluid movement, intricate footwork, rhythmic vitality, graceful transitions, and expressive storytelling, Kuchipudi brings together technical precision and emotional depth.

Kuchipudi Manjari features a selection of old and new traditional works, including choreographies by the renowned Kuchipudi master Guru Dr. Vempati Chinna Satyam, whose pioneering work helped shape and establish Kuchipudi as a solo/group dance form. His choreography beautifully highlights the elegance, musicality, rhythm, and expressive vocabulary of Kuchipudi. Alongside these traditional works are new choreographies created by Kasi Aysola (Artistic Director of Prakriti Dance).

This presentation has been co-directed and re-staged by Kasi Aysola (Artistic Director of Prakriti Dance) and Archana Raja (Artistic Associate). Rooted in the vocabulary and foundations of classical Kuchipudi, these works explore new ideas and perspectives.

Kuchipudi Manjari celebrates the vibrancy, fluidity, grace, and versatility of Kuchipudi. The performance reflects Prakriti Dance’s commitment to preserving and presenting the art form authentically, while also creating space for it to grow and engage with contemporary audiences.
