HAPPY CAMPER brings the Joy, Awkwardness and Memories of Summer Camp to the Philadelphia Fringe Festival
What happens when the memories of summer camp refuse to stay in the past? HAPPY CAMPER, a new one-person show written and performed by Sherri Hope Culver, explores childhood, identity and the lasting power of camp through songs, humor, audience interaction and vulnerable memories.
If you went to summer camp, HAPPY CAMPER invites you to relive the fun, embarrassing, awkward and often unforgettable moments of those formative summers.
And if you never went to summer camp, the show offers a glimpse into the mysterious hold those experiences can have on the adults who lived them—and why simply mentioning the name of a long-ago camp can bring an unexpected smile, laugh or tear.
Directed by Liz Fredette, HAPPY CAMPER is an approximately 60-minute solo performance with no intermission. Audience members should expect an interactive experience that invites them to connect their own childhood memories with the stories unfolding onstage.

About the Artist
Creator and performer Sherri Hope Culver is a professor at Temple University’s Klein College of Media and Communication. Before entering academia, she spent 25 years working in television as a producer and media executive. Performance has been a constant throughout Culver’s life. Her experience began with musical theater as a teenager and continued through semi-professional productions, television hosting and reporting, and, more recently, improv. HAPPY CAMPER marks her debut as the creator and performer of a one-person show.
