This is the performance that will change everything. This will take her from overdraft status to EGOT status. And as promised on every flyer posted on every street corner her ex passes on the way to work, IMANI will show you all. All that’s left from years of hiding away, tweezing, and holding it in.
Morning of, she's found sleeping off a wild night in her bathtub. And during a ridiculous but effective warmup (one that almost justifies the crippling student debt) she inadvertently activates parts of herself that have been itching to get out. These past roles have their own dream roles. They intend to perform them tonight.
Inspired by the work of Richard C. Schwartz, PHD on the Internal Family System (IFS), Ideas of Grandeur is about rediscovering freedom through acceptance and through cultivating healthy relationships with our human parts. Between the song, the movement, and the personal hygiene, it’s occupied!

A Home for The Homemade

The Lemonade Stand strives to create a home for new work and new artists in the expansive Philadelphia arts community. We prioritize the development process, community, and partnership. We are committed to being rough around the edges, adaptive to each process, and true to the artist's vision.

A company by and for emerging theatre artists, we aim to foster and celebrate communities of artists who create beyond The Lemonade Stand. We want to bring artists of all mediums to collaborate, find community, and unlock new creative possibilities. We are successful when artists collaborate outside the Lemonade Stand and we are proud to be a part of the next generation of Philadelphia artists.

We love homemade.

About the Artist

Imani Lee Williams was raised on Apple Tree Drive, east of Peachtree Street, and got her start with the Youth Ensemble of Atlanta (Y.E.A.). A good place for a young Black performer to find arts activism and build stamina within original work. Pursuing higher education led her to Florida. A place where leaving whole meant leaving with two degrees (BA and MFA) and an intent to do something with them (mention it every chance she gets). She’s excited to put IOG back on its feet after premiering in Sarasota Contemporary Dance’s In-Studio Series in 2023. This is her first Philly Fringe Festival.
