Through the lens of six characters’ experiences over the course of an evening, If ever explores the complexities of platonic and romantic intimacies. The work is a culmination of vignettes–depicting those based in reality and those imagined–to portray affection, intimacy, anger, struggle, pain, and loss. Melodic classical, blues, and pop songs of the past mold the arc of the evening. If ever, an amalgamation of music, movement, and connection, aims to exploit viewers’ innate kinesthesia and impart movement with great expressive agency.

About the Artist

five two dance company is a women-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2021 by Olivia Passarelli and Sophie Gray-Gaillard. Their work has been performed at Ailey Citigroup Theater, Mark Morris Dance Center, Tufts University, the Emelin Theater, and Triskelion Arts, among others. They received the Directors’ Choice Award at the Spring for Spring Dance Festival and were twice selected for the SharedSpace Program at MMDG. They have produced three evenings of sold-out work at The Mark O’Donnell Theater, the Philadelphia Fringe Festival, and The KnJ Theater at Peridance. In addition to creating and performing their work, five two dance company is committed to offering affordable dance classes to movers of all experience levels.
