About the Artist

Dan Kitrosser (he/they/gay!) is a Sundance-premiered screenwriter, award-winning playwright, storyteller, and the glittering brain behind Karen Tenderness—Philly's most chaotic cabaret icon. Developed under the mentorship of Dito Van Reigersberg, Karen has performed across the country and emceed Philly Queer Fundy events fundraising for social justice and immigrant rights.
Dan co-wrote the screenplay for WE THE ANIMALS (Sundance 2018, NEXT: Innovator Award; OutFest Best Narrative; nominated for 5 Independent Spirit Awards and a GLAAD Award). 
Dan's plays have earned a Fringe First Award and Amnesty International Citation for Excellence (TAR BABY, Edinburgh Fringe), productions at Theater Ariel and Artist Repertory Theater (MARSHA BLOVOTNIK), a FOX TV option (THE MUMBLINGS), and publication in Smith & Kraus. Their ten-episode podcast SVETLANA! SVETLANA!—about Stalin's daughter—was named a podcast of the year by Vulture.
A Sundance Screenwriting Fellow, Peter Shaffer Award winner, TimeWarner 150 Fellow, and Steinberg Playwriting Fellow, Dan holds an MFA from The New School for Drama and teaches screenwriting and performance at Temple University. He's also the Artistic Director of Writopia Lab's Worldwide Plays Festival—now in its 18th year.
Dan lives in South Philly, with his husband and collaborator Jordan Hunter Siegel, their dog Gemma and their kiddo Juna!
