About the Artist

Olivia Broderick (she/her) is a performer, writer, and three garden gnomes stacked on top of one another masquerading as an adult woman. She most recently made her role debut as Cio Cio San in Madame Butterfly with the Festival of International Opera in Urbania, Italy. Other credits include: Monica in Delaware Valley Opera Company's site-specific production of The Medium Lyra in the Philadelphia premiere of Alice Tierney with Opera on Tap Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Fringe Festival, and scenes as Magda in La Rondine with IndependentSounds! Philadelphia. She also performed as Gretel in Hansel and Gretel: A Philly Opera Jawn with Liberty City Arts, introducing kids of all ages to the joys of opera.

In addition to her work as a singer, Olivia is a writer and the founder of the Judith Shakespeare Writing Group in East Kensington, Philadelphia, which is dedicated to empowering and encouraging female and trans/nonbinary writers. Her publications include “Barren” (MyrtleHaus, Angels on a Sylvan Road), “Where Everyone Would Love to Drown” (The Lovers Literary Journal, 2023 Best of the Net Nominee), and “My Mother is a Moka Pot” (Armstrong Literary). Scenes from Whatever in Me is of Heaven, her collaboration with composer Caroline Hawthorne,  were workshopped as part of Off-Brand Opera’s [lab] program in May 2025.

Olivia holds a Bachelors of Music from the Boyer College of Music and Dance at Temple University, a certificate in Teaching English as a Second/Other Language from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a Masters of Arts in English Rhetoric and Composition from Carnegie Mellon University. She studies with Bryce McClendon.
