A surreal circus story created by Autumn Cornell
Get lost in an otherworldly mystical realm full of silly and mysterious creatures. This cabaret style show is presented as a series of vignettes- intertwining spoken word with circus acts including object manipulation, stilt characters, fire dancers, and aerial performance.
We’re going on a journey- a journey which may seem familiar. Along the way we’re faced with some uncomfortable truths, but when we grab hold of the threads of those truths we can weave a story that is unique, empowering, and maybe we find some fiery family along the way.
This story follows the weaver as she makes scarves out of dreams and nightmares, both to protect her through the night and to remind her that sometimes there should be a little fright. The more she weaves, the more she is able to share her flowing web, so we can all feel safe through the night. Within that found safety, our dreams can ignite.
First she must choose to descend the dark staircase to the sea. As she makes her way down the cool stony steps, it gets steeper and slippier when wet. Suddenly she slides into the ocean tide. Enveloped by waves, she’ll swirl, and twirl, and tumble around until finding peace under the ocean sound. She weaves her webs close to the ocean’s bed, searching for truth in the chaos. The peculiar creatures here don’t yet know their shared fate, but as she leaves behind her flowing fabrics they create a map to a treasure they didn’t know they’d find.
Some briefly pass us by and some will always be floating in our same tides.
All ages are welcome. Due to the use of fire effects, audience members are expected to remain seated for the duration of the show.
