2026 Philly Fringe lineup just announced! Tickets are on sale now.
Maiden Mother Crone is a new evening-length dance work by Britt Fishel & Artists that explores the intersections of feminine archetypes, lunar cycles, and collective transformation. Premiering in 2026 at & Space, the company’s home and the site of its first full-length premiere there, the project investigates the enduring archetypes of the maiden, mother, and crone through a contemporary feminist lens.
Drawing inspiration from the cyclical nature of the moon, the work examines how phases of growth, creation, release, and renewal shape both individual and communal experience. Rather than presenting these archetypes as fixed identities, the choreography considers them as fluid states that exist within all people and emerge throughout a lifetime. Through movement, digital projections, and collaborative creation, the work reflects on themes of intuition, resilience, caregiving, transformation, and inherited wisdom.
The project brings together a team of dancers and collaborators to create an immersive performance environment that invites audiences to consider the power of cyclical thinking in a culture often focused on linear progress. By foregrounding stories of change, interdependence, and embodied knowledge, Maiden Mother Crone seeks to spark dialogue around how communities sustain themselves across generations.
As a company committed to feminist artistic practice, Britt Fishel & Artists centers collaboration, equity, and shared authorship throughout the creative process. The premiere at & Space represents both an artistic milestone and an opportunity to deepen relationships with audiences through a work that is intimate, expansive, and rooted in the rhythms that connect human experience to the natural world. The result will be a visually compelling and emotionally resonant performance that celebrates complexity, continuity, and the transformative potential of collective gathering.

Britt Fishel & Artists is a nonprofit dance company committed to creating
work that merges visceral physicality with social inquiry, igniting dialogue
between audience and performer. Collaborative in nature, our mission is to
expand the boundaries of contemporary dance through performance,
education, and film, while cultivating an inclusive community where diverse
voices and perspectives are centered.
Our work exists at the intersection of movement, technology, and
storytelling. We create evening-length dance works, site-specific
performances, and screendance projects that grapple with themes of
identity, collective memory, and the human condition. Through bold
physicality and collaborative processes, we invite audiences to reflect on the
complexities of the present moment.
Beyond performance, we prioritize access and community through our
offerings with & Space. We aim to empower choreographers and
screendance artists by offering subsidized space, resources, and
performance opportunities.
By bridging live performance and film, our work
amplifies the reach of contemporary dance and contributes to a growing
dialogue between stage and screen.
