About the Artist

Asha and Sabrina met at Broken Mirror Studio in Philadelphia, where they were paired for a scene study and quickly discovered a strong artistic connection. Through their work together, they began questioning the shifting dynamics of power within their scenes. From that concept, My Carmilla was born.  

Asha Bagal Kelly (she/her) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Philadelphia. Her earliest drama training was in Bharatanatyam, an ancient form of South Asian dance theatre. Recent regional credits include Same Team (Inis Nua), A Comedy of Errors (Marin Shakespeare Company), The Tempest and Under Milk Wood (both at Pear Theatre). As a writer and director, Asha’s short film In Quiet Company, featuring an all-woman cast and crew, screened at last year’s Women’s Film Festival in Philadelphia. Asha's work experiments with form and medium, surprising audiences with unexpected perspectives and revealing the subtle layers beneath every story.

Sabrina Caruso (she/her) is a queer actress and writer based in Philadelphia. She studied the Meisner Technique at Rutgers University, and became involved in new work development and script adaptation. Her theatre credits include Dawn (Lobby Hero), Angela (Stage Kiss), Lenny (Crimes of the Heart), and Laura (Significant Other). Her film credits include the upcoming queer horror short Beat Sweet Heart. Her original short adaptation, Of Force,  premiered this spring at Red Bull Theatre’s Short New Play Festival in New York. Sabrina is passionate about telling queer stories and exploring feminist themes, often examining the darker corners of humanity and the feminine experience.
