About the Artist

Felicia Cooper is a Minneapolis-based artist working in puppetry and performance across the United States. Her work has been seen at LaMama Theater's Puppet Festival, Dixon Place, the Chicago International Puppet Theater Festival, Full Moon Puppet Show, In the Heart of the Beast Theater, and more. Her artistic endeavors have been supported by The National Humanities Center, the Tri M Foundation, The Jerome Foundation, and more. She makes work embedded in community and creates platforms for others to create experimental work, including her work with the Puppet Union, UNIMA-USA, Puppeteers of America, and Minnesota Fringe Festival, where she is the Director of Audience and Volunteer Engagement.

Maisie O’Brien is a Philadelphia based shadow caster and cellist whose shadow play simmers together everything from cut paper to traditional printmaking, overhead projector, crankie theater, and stop motion animation. They have most recently performed with A Rafter of Crankies and the Philly Puppet Slam in collaboration with Lou. Maisie develops shadow puppets in partnership with fellow storytellers in film, dance, music, and theater, and they also work to encourage everyone's voices through puppetry and toy making workshops around town.

Lou Hemler is a creative generalist that loves to be anywhere that living things gather and grow outside of structures of commodification. Their work sits at the intersection of people and environment, bridging relationship building with stewardship of land and multidisciplinary sculpture. This manifests as a combination of parade and protest art, puppetry, community land tending, teaching and workshop facilitation, and illustration. Together Lou and Maisie are members of Philly’s expanding puppeteer community who organized puppet slams in West Philly and Kensington. Driven by curiosity and collaboration, they are moved by connecting towards more liberatory futures that are only possible with collective imagination and action.<
