After a 5-star Edinburgh Fringe 2025 debut and a sold-out, extended New York City run, writer and performer Caroline Dunn is bringing her one-woman-show PRUDENCE PLAY to Philly for her Philly Fringe Debut! Welcome to church (literally, this is a part of Prudence's Fall Church Tour!)
Prudence Play (or Sister Prudence is Not Gay!) stars a young catholic nun having an identity (gay-as-hell) crisis. From her fever dream of tap dancing, or her hot and heavy thoughts during the Lenten fish fry, you understand... she’s having a moment. She’s waking up to feelings for a fellow sister, wrestling with her every belief, and confessing a lot (perhaps too much) to the order’s new priest. As memories from her past resurface and her dreams get more sinful, Prudence begins to question the voice in her head and is forced to confront her (horny) (gay) demons.
Prudence takes us on a beautifully human and hilarious journey into the mind of a young nun trapped by her own choices. Through humor and her surprising candor, the show explores queerness and lesbian identity, modern-day conservative catholicism, as well as the mental re-wiring it takes to free oneself of shame. As Prudence hits her breaking point, she welcomes the audience in with open arms, hilariously rambling freak-outs, and repressed memories. Just as she starts to question her reality, so will you. Plus, what would a repressed gay nun play be without a tap dancing dream sequence?

About the Artist
Caroline Dunn is a Brooklyn-based writer, performer, and comedian. She's known for her live comedy and storytelling shows at The Bell House, Union Hall, Littlefield, & Club Cumming, and stand up, improv, and sketch performances across the city, including her comedy duo DOOFY. Her writing has received many workshops and readings in the U.S., including The Tank and Workshop Theatre's residency. Her play Holy Sh*t won the 2021 E.W. Miller Award for Drama. Prudence Play had its world premiere at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2025 to five star reviews, and had a sold out, extended run of its New York premiere at The Flea in 2026, followed by a Philadelphia run at Harmonie Hall in May. Dunn is currently touring Prudence Play across multiple cities in the U.S. and U.K. Follow her on instagram @itscarolinedunn.
Boyz With Apple is a cooperatively owned artist collective founded by Frances Rippy (director, producer, dramaturg, theatre-maker) and Naomi Friedman (collage and visual artist) in 2022. Their last year of college the Boyz didn't have a TV, so they started collaging the top of their coffee table—okay fine, it was a storage container they were using as a coffee table. Quickly Naomi's corner of the shipping container started to stand out and before they knew it, their house was filled with collages. Frances started an Instagram page, and Boyz With Apple was born.
babygood is an independent production company founded in 2025. prudence was and is babygood’s premiere show and wow, they are happy to be here. they are looking to make a lot more queer, funny, soft-hearted art in 2026 and beyond. follow along: @babygoodmakes on insta
