The Colored Girls Museum Presents Act Two 
Say it Loud, I'm Black and I'm Proud,
A Semiquincentennial Celebration of The Ordinary Colored Girl

Citizen artist vanessa german unveils her site-specific installation, "The House, The Oracle, and The Table," transforming the living room and dining room of this historic Germantown home into a black box theater. This dramatic setting enhances her sculptural and immersive work, complete with an accompanying soundscape.

The two rooms are titled "Who All Gon Be There" and "Keep My Name Out Yo Mouth." One room serves as a complete black box where German’s sculptural figures stand in theatrical darkness, while the other is an intimate space that reflects the language and boundaries of Black womanhood. Together, these spaces explore themes of belonging, protection, and authority.

The titles draw from the vernacular of Black American life, symbolizing both roll call and boundary. In the context of the current political climate—characterized by rising rates of Black femicide and ongoing pressures on Black institutional identity—these names carry significant weight, serving as a form of witness to these issues.

Guests will be led on a tour that culminates in these rooms.

Additional installations curated by Calli Roche, along with a guest appearance by the (MAAAC) Museum for African Art Collectors, will be showcased on the second and third floor.
